How we write and check our questions

Where our content comes from, and how to tell us when something’s wrong.

Who makes this site

Texas DMV Prep is made by ChowChow Labs, an independent studio. We are not a driving school and we are not connected to Texas DPS, the Texas DMV or the State of Texas. Texas DMV Prep is an independent study aid by ChowChow Labs. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the State of Texas, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles or any government agency. The questions are original practice questions, not actual exam questions, and practice scores don't guarantee you'll pass. Always study the current Texas Driver Handbook from Texas DPS.

Where our content comes from

  • The Texas Driver Handbook (DL-7, revised January 2026) from Texas DPS is our main source for rules, signs and numbers. We use it to check rules only; our wording and pictures are our own.
  • Texas DPS’s own pages are where we send you for fees and licensing steps, because they change.
  • Questions, explanations, lessons, sign illustrations and road diagrams are original. We don’t copy DPS exam questions or other prep sites’ question banks or wording.

How each question is checked

  • Each question is tied to a specific handbook section, which is linked next to its explanation.
  • Numbers (distances, speeds, ages) are checked against the current handbook, and the explanation says why the answer is right and what the common mistake is.
  • Where the handbook gives safety advice rather than a legal rule, we try to say so instead of presenting advice as law.
  • The whole bank (20 mock exams, 600 questions) was last reviewed in November 2026. We recheck it when the handbook changes.

Our questions are not reviewed or approved by Texas DPS or the Texas DMV, and practice scores don’t predict your result on the real test.

Report an error

Every public question has a Report an error link. You can also email chowchowbuy@gmail.com with the question number and, if you can, a link to the handbook section. We check every report against the handbook and fix confirmed errors.

Corrections log

  • November 1, 2026: Checked the whole bank against the Texas Driver Handbook (DL-7, revised January 2026): reworded 267 questions to keep clear of the handbook’s wording, fixed the following-distance and driveway facts, moved seat belt citations to Chapter 14 and redrew 12 signs. No correct answer changed meaning.
